Abstract

The development of the information society and the widespread use of information and communication technologies in the educational process have made the issue of ensuring students’ information security highly relevant. Today, the extensive use of Internet resources and digital platforms creates new threats that can affect the mental, moral, and social development of children and adolescents. Therefore, for educational institutions, forming students’ information security skills has become an important task.

In this article, the research object is students, while the subject is the pedagogical methods and legal foundations for developing their information security skills. During the study, the types and levels of information threats were analyzed, and their classification was proposed. Additionally, a comprehensive set of pedagogical measures for protecting against information threats was developed in schools, including integrated classroom methods, role-playing games, training sessions, extracurricular activities, and informational and methodological support for parents and teachers.

Legal aspects were also extensively considered: the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on education and data protection, Internet safety standards, school policies, and mechanisms of legal regulation. The study results indicate that the combination of pedagogical methods and legal foundations allows for effective development of students’ information security skills.

The article offers a comprehensive set of measures aimed at increasing students’ digital literacy, building resilience to Internet threats, and developing their legal responsibility. Furthermore, the study is useful for educational institutions in establishing the theoretical and practical foundations for ensuring information security.
