Abstract

This article explores effective methods for enriching the vocabulary and improving the grammatical structures of 5-6-year-old preschool children with level III general speech underdevelopment (GSU) through Kazakh folk tales with high educational potential. A folk tale is viewed not only as a tool for language development but also as a part of the nation’s spiritual and cultural heritage that enriches children’s speech with new words and helps form sentence construction skills. The study describes the speech characteristics of children with GSU, highlighting their limited vocabulary and weak grammatical structures, which require special corrective and developmental approaches. Based on the analysis of foreign, Russian, and Kazakh scholars’ works, the importance of folk tales as an effective means of language development is comprehensively discussed. The article presents the main methods of logopedic work using fairy tales retelling, role-play dramatization, storytelling through illustrations, and dialogue construction. The integrated use of these methods promotes the enrichment of vocabulary, proper use of grammatical structures, and the development of coherent speech. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the development of a holistic methodological system adapted to the lexical and grammatical development of children with level III GSU, based on the use of Kazakh folk tales. In addition, the article systematizes specific logopedic techniques for effectively developing dialogic speech through the structural features of fairy-tale texts. The findings demonstrate that the use of a speech therapy model based on Kazakh folk tales significantly improves vocabulary development, grammatical structures, and dialogic speech skills in preschool children with general speech underdevelopment.
