The article discusses the concept of transport management at different levels of the economy, describes the main components of management, management principles and management methodology. Transport plays a crucial role in socio-economic and social processes. Despite the fact that transport can be considered as an independent industry, and transport development projects – as independent business projects, the spectrum of the impact of transport has not yet been fully studied. A qualitative examination of the spheres of influence of transport shows its impact on all significant aspects of socio-economic relations in society. The issues of improving the organization of management of the transport complex of the country are considered. As practice shows, the use of classical approaches does not allow to reliably assess the effectiveness of management in the organization of modern transport production. The choice of approaches to assessment is directly dependent on the socio-economic model of the state. In particular, Kazakhstan is characterized by a socially oriented model initially aimed at the formation of the public good. The descriptions of various methods in relation to the management of the transport complex in modern conditions of the development of the national economy are also given. The purpose of the study: to identify the role of management in the development of transport production and, in general, the importance of the entire transport structure of the country. Research methods - general scientific methods were used – (analysis, synthesis), as well as organizational methods (comparative method).
